97 JGC remote reprogram?

I have a 1997 Grand Cherokee Laredo and the remote has stopped working. I tried replacing the batteries, but that didn't seem to help.

Do you have to reprogram the remote after changing the batteries, or is there some other problem I need to find?

I think you must to synchronize agains. This can be , pressing unlock many times near to veichle.
