89gt problem

I was on the highway the other day racing a trans am, and about 5 minutes after racing him i noticed a whinning noise coming from my car, sounds like a huge fan under the car, it got worst and worst as i kept driving. Car started gettin sluggish and didnt seem like it had as much power, my father told me it sounded like it was coming from my trans but ive got a new tranny in it. Anyone know what it could be??? the sound gets louder and louder the higher rpm u bring it up and am affraid to drive the car cause i dont want to do anymore damage. any suggestions would help. thanks

pilot bearing maybe? Does it happen all the time or only with the clutch engaged/disengaged?

Re: 89gt problem

not to much like a growl, honestly sounds like an extra fan inside the car, and feels like the car is holding back

Re: 89gt problem

How does it idle? Does it misfire? Could it just be an exhaust leak or maybe your converter is falling apart and is blocking the flow of your exhaust? << That could be making the car feel like its "holding back."

Re: 89gt problem

the idle is fine to, no misfire, deffinately not an exhaust leak though. Lost right now honestly, just waiting for a friend to get back from the beach to take a look at it

Re: 89gt problem

I know when I blew my converter apart it made a buzzing sound for a long time. Also I have seen converters come apart and get clogged, being even more extremely restrictive.
