You'd think for vans that cost from $30-40,000 that the front seats would be made with better support, but mine just plain suck. I want to know if any of you feel the same, and if you have done anything to correct the problem.
I have a '96 LXi with the multi-adjustable leather seats. Yeah, they look great and feel good to rub your hands over....BUT they are awful on a long trip. I have about 102K on the van now, but they have been that way since I got it at 74K. I've had to use foam pillows and have tried numerous aftermarket stuff to make them comfortable, but to no avail. Have any of you had your seats replaced or repadded??? |

I agree...the captains chairs are better then the buckets in these vans, especially on long trips, but are not nicely contoured for the back. My back is horrible, so this is a huge issue for me!
I've actually found that the nicest seats are on a 2003 Windstar SEL with leather...very supportive with the captains chairs. That's just my

Actually, it's both. The rear of the seat has almost no lumbar support. I've tried a few sizes of small pillows, and even an "orthopaedic" seat cushion....not any help.
The seat pad (bottom) itself seems to be too thin and unsupportive. My only siolution for out of town rtips has been to place a full-size foam bedpillow under me. Even then I have to shift it toward the front of the seat so I'm cradled in against the rear seatback. That seems to work well, but is a lot of bother for what should be a comfortable seat. I should add that the seat LOOKS normal, and feels normal for short distances. I did rent a '94 GC last year for a run to Idaho via Reno. For the 1700 miles of that trip I found those seats much more comfortable and supportive. I can see from pics of the T&Cs 2001 and beyond that Chrysler changed the shape of the seat. I wonder if a seat bottom from a 2002-3-4 can be affixed to a '96 frame??? |
