Aftermarket intake manifold vs. Ported intake manifold

What would give better performance/air flow, an aftermarket intake manifold (eg. Skunk2), or a stock ported manifold. I have a 1995 Prelude Si if that makes any difference. Thanks for your help.

Currently in Progress:

KMS (Honda-performance.com) Camshafts, Valve springs, and Retainers
Skunk2 adjustable cam gears

Wish me luck on this project, something always seems to go wrong.

Re: Aftermarket intake manifold vs. Ported intake manifold

for the most part most aftermarket intake manifolds are bigger than stock from the start so i would reccomend u go aftermarket and if u want port that one too

Will it also be limited by the intake ports on the head? Cause no matter how big the intake manifold ports are, they are limited by the ports on the head right? Unless I'm missing something.

Re: Aftermarket intake manifold vs. Ported intake manifold

I wouldn't susgest going too big unless u have a bigger throttle body and a nicely ported head. If you have this large intake manifold but a small throttle body and cylinder head, u wont get much performance gains out of it. You will still be slightly restricted by the head. There are some applications where a larger intake manifold will hurt your performance. Its all about combinations

you want a big plenum and short runners and a big tb to match the size of the manifold or a bigger tb and a bored mainfold ot match it, also have the intake ports ported

Re: Aftermarket intake manifold vs. Ported intake manifold

Alright, well I have a FULL exhaust and CAI. I was thinking of a larger TB and aftermarket intake manifold because where I am, Illinois, there aren't really many good places I'd trust to P&P. Maybe an Apexi SAFC too, with all that airflow, I'm just worried that the unported head will significantly hinder the potential of this combo.
