Would it be possible to swap out my Mustangs stock v6 engine with either a Toyota Surpa or a Nissan Skyline engine?

anything is possible but you would save a lot of money if you just built your internals and strengthened you motor. you could have stuff machined and even oil squirters like what are a lot of factory turbo motors put in. then jsut buy a couple of turbos. but if you are gonna do all that you might as well do the same work to a 5-0 engine and drop that in with a couple turbos.

ya i would just build your 5-0, if power is an issue than you wont be better off getting a skyline engine. If your looking for originality, well go for it, its going to be some work to say the least. But your mustang will still be a mustang, not saying it as a bad thing, but if you want a skyline, you wont get there buy overtaking this project.

Man, why would you even think of putting in a supra engine? Those things are dead stock, and barely alive when charged. If your stang's engine is dead then you'll need another engine for sure. But if it's an economy model, just mod it up.

I've never seen a skyline in action, so I'm not going to say anything about them.

In my eyes, you lose all of my respect when you drop an engine like a nissan into a ford car. You should stick with the same manufacturer. Most parts made by the same company will fit to each other. There would be so many things that would be a pain to wire up and get to work with each other. The 5-0 engine is a beast after you get it tuned right, and there is plenty of aftermarket support for this engine in this country. The biggest problem that you would run into is trying to get parts for the nissan engine. They would have to be shipped over from Japan and would be very expensive. Plenty of tuners have mounted superchargers on the 5-0 engine, not to mention the new Cobra SVT. Turbos I am sure are supported somewhere in the aftermarket. Do some searching on ford and mustangs websites and forums and I am sure you can find enough firepower for your Stang to go 11s.

There was a time when I saw "tainting" one car with a "foreign" (not of that vehicle or manufacturer) part. Years ago when I was interviewing with a magazine, the editor told me of his thoughts on the subject. He headed a Corvette magazine and Corvette owners are among the most hard-nosed when it comes to numbers-matching and the like. His opinion was, it's your car...do what you like. While I wouldn't deface a Duesenberg with a Corvette's LS1, that's just me. If someone wants to put a Lexus V8 in a hot rod (Boyd Coddington) or swap a Chevy small block into a Jaguar XJ (...shiver...), that's up to them. As long as it makes the owner happy, by all means! In MY eyes, someone who has a unique idea and runs with it has it all over the person who has done the traditional bigger-Ford-engine-in-place-of-a-smaller-Ford-engine work.

i completely agree, if you want to make it custom, and you do it really trick yourself, good for you you will earn way more credit than somebody that builds a 5.0 and puts a dual exhaust on because its already been done millions of times. But, you wont get a skyline by buying the engine is all im saying.

one of the better transplants that i have seen was the BMW with the four rotor mazda motor in it.

I really wanna see an elise or exige? with a 2 or three rotor.
