Post Starting problem

I have a 99 jeep cherokee, it has been great until last night. I went out to start it and it acted as if the battery was dead, finally it turned over but when I let go of the gas, it died. It did this a couple of times. I made sure all the electrical items(radio, AC, lights) were off and it still did the same thing. Finally it just started. My battery gauge reads 14 volts and everything else looks good. The only other things I notice were my clock was back to 12:00 and the temperature guage was reading the outside temp wrong. I stop last night ans it did the same, and again this morning. Help please!

Re: Starting problem

I'd start with checking and cleaning the battery posts.

Re: Starting problem

Had similar problem with my 98 Grand cherokee, Changed battery Optima Yellow top.... Sad part is is is my 2nd optima yellow top this year, Had a strange charging problem this winter and let it go... Cleaned the alternator and that got rid of the charging problem. Start effortlessly now... Ruining the first optima battery can be attributed to my laziness of not working on the vehicle this winter...
