whenever i try to shift into gear it makes a grinding noise and u have to force it in or wait a few seconds. The clutch was replaced about a year ago. My brother in law says it might be the synch? gears and u have to pull the transmission out. It is a 94 s 10 2.2 5 speed with 100,000 miles. can anyone tell me what it might be and about how much it it might cost for parts, labor, time.

Re: 5 speed trans grinding help
Stonny, it sounds like it may be master cyl problem. Try pumping up the clutch and then shifting into 1st. It also could be syncs, but it shouldn't be for every gear.

Re: 5 speed trans grinding help
First check fluid in clutch master cylinder, under hood above the brake booster unit. Then check transmission fluid. Either will cause raking/grinding while shifting. Might also check the bolts on the slave cylinder near the clutch, might have worked loose.
