dropping an m3 engine in my e36

Hey all. I have this 325is; shes a good car, but im sure she can be better with a nice m3 engine dropped into it.
Now, ive been trying my best to do some research into what ill need to do this. The first, and most obvious thing is the engine. Second, i have been looking at some nice 6speed tranny's for it. Heck, why not 6 speeds, eh? I know ill need an ECU and i hope i get the wiring harness with the engine, if not, im sure i can aquire one.
Now, with all that in check, im wondering if i am missing anything else to complete the installation.

Thanks for the input

Or you could bore and stroke your current engine. The 2.5 can be taken up to 3.4 this way if the info I got off the net is correct.

I am not to sure but 3.4L seems a little to high for the m50 motors......The M3 motors are basically the m50 motors blueprinted to an s50 basically 2.5 to a 3.0! You could get m3 cams from a 95, crank, pistons and rods for your motor! Along with the ecu! But seriously it would probably be cheaper to go ahead and by an m3 motor and swap if you are going to do it yourself!

Question Re: dropping an m3 engine in my e36

i have a '98 328i and i am debating whether to go with a supercharger (from Dinan or Bavarian Auto, not sure which one is better) or see if i can swap my E36 2.8 with a E36 M3 engine.... i'm told i might need a new transmission, but is it a requirement? i have a 5spd manual now...
What route would be cheaper? my engine has just over 100,000 miles... and it's paid off... can't really afford a M5 now, can i? hehe... what to do what to do...

What are you looking to gain? What kind of power? What kind of accel or top end? There are so many questions.

What kind of swap were you going to do? S50B30 or S52B32? What kind of supercharger, centrifugal or twinscrew?

What else have you already done to the car?
