Tires and Wheels

If in the SA, TX area (access to Goodyear, WalMart, Firestone, Cooper, dealers) where might I find tires (opt. wheels-rims) for 78? Tried online search with Dunlap, Mickie, Goodyear, etc) don't list make/model or year. Orginal size 165SR14 any good substitutes?

There are plenty of good tires out there for the MGB and you're limited only by what you're willing to spend. Note however that the 'B' isn't really a performance car, so a set of $500 skins on the beast might not really be money well spent. I've been very pleased with the performance of mid-level F'stones for many years. They give good performance and fairly long life. Michelins are great, too, but I don't put enough mileage on my '79 to justify the $. I'd strongly suggest that you forget about the 165/14 combination and move right into a nice 185-70/14, as they will mount right up to the stock weels and fit nicely under the wheelwells. Also you're not increasing the rolling diameter significantly, so your spreedo will be accurate. Occasionally I've seen 195-65/14s on MGBs, but, these look wrong, and tend to rub inside the rear wheel well if there is ANY spring sag. Another option is to go to a +1 option, install a 15" wheel and mount a set of 185-65/15s on the car. Looks kinda cool, but again, a bit of an investment for a car running on 1950s technology. "Safety Fast."
