Question Stock Internals and Boost.....

With stock engine internals on a second gen (95 to be exact), with upgraded fuel system, injectors, turbos, front mount intercooler, exhaust, boost controller, ect. ect. ect. How much boost will our engines take safely?....Ive heard of them compared to the amazing tough supra block which ive seen take 30psi on stock internals.

And also, arent the second gens stock internals all forged?

Thanks,
Matt

This should help answer all your stock boost needs and engine internals.

Re: Stock Internals and Boost.....

Good read, I actually was wondering the same thing. Thanks. And from the looks of it, this car is going to be a sick ride. I'd have to agree that it sounds like you are gonna need 720cc injectors at least.

Here is a good read for injectors and it has a good equation to use to choose injectors by the power you are estimating.

And propane injection would be a good idea as well. www.3sxperformance.com has a propane kit...I think.
Also I noticed you mentioned iridium plugs. I have heard they have a tendency to not be cold enough to handle so much boost and that you might have spark blowout, many recommended just going with copper plugs when I was interested in iridium, even though you have to replace them more often, they are supposedly a colder plug. So you may want to check into that a bit more.
But I am really looking forward to the end result of all your money and hard work...this will be quite the sick car. good luck -geoff

Your 1996 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 is the 92nd out of the 315 that were made that year. Only 21 of which are exactly identical.

I hope all turns out well, my car is going to be down for a good 3-4 weeks while all of this is getting done...thats not even the time its going to take to have it tuned well. BTW, send me a PM with your AIM name, that would be pimp to have some more faster exchanges of 3S knowledge. yea, look me up if your ever in Houston.
