Know who to race!

I have a pontiac grand prix with some exterior and engine mods but nothing serious. The other day I was driving in a highway and a corvette pulls up and starts reving his engine and looks at me. What exactly is he trying to prove? That he can beat a 3300lb 4dr with 260hp? Anyways we were going uphills at 80km and by the time I reached 160km he was 3 cars ahead so I slowed down. Nothing unexpected! now here is the fun part, a vw golf that was behind us all this time now pulls up and wants a race. Lets just say I did what the corvette did to me. Man ppl with ferraris should get really frustrated the other day a lexus was highbeaming a 360! what was he thinkin?

Re: Know who to race!

My friend has a 94 grad prix with nothing but exhaust...he revs against everyone just to see them take off...including a modded viper. It was amusing to say the least.

Re: Know who to race!

My car is way too loud, I got pulled over cauz they thought I had a cutout but I didn't. Maybe the vette driver was one of those guyz who think loud is fast!! If he is he doesn't deserve his car.

That Lexus probably has what I have under my hood

I always want to see try and see what I can do against one of those cars but oh well, they usually don't do anything. Beaten a couple of stock C5, GT, one SL55AMG, older Cobra not the 03+ (would like to try though). I only have the Lexus IS300, oh wait there's a little thing under the hood that makes the car sound pssssssssssssssshhhhhhhh!

Maybe you should get that checked out I don't think your car is suppose to do that. Who really cares who's trying to race you it's up to you whether they want to race or not. You never know anyways when you might get a nasty surprise^^

You shouldn't be offended by a Corvette reving on you, especially if you were that close at 160km/h. I'd take that as a compliment.

There's nothing wrong with reving on people...i've reved on Porsches in my car, LOL, they give me a look like 'are you on drugs?' and i just rev again and look them square in the eye.

They figure i've got a hidden time bomb under the hood so they go like shit! I get to just cruise behind them, i've seen a great launch (usually) and they clear the road ahead of me of the cops.

Great system!!

Yes my car is supposed to do that. And I've been beaten by my share of cars. Especially those old American muscle cars that just seem to keep pulling and pulling and pulling. Haven't lost to a year 90+ Ford yet (haven't tried an 03+ cobra or modified older Cobra/Saleen). Lost to 1 Z06, a modified Camaro, 1 turboed teg, couple of modified eclipses gen II & III and some odds and ends that I probably already forgot.

Pushing out 360-380rwhp isn't bad for a Lexus IS300 (have pics of the car + dyno sheet + timeslips from Carlsbard Raceway). I'm coming up near 400 rwhp, not there yet but my goal is to reach 500rwhp by the end of the year. Best 1/4 was 13.018 @ 112 mph with a 60' of 2.3. With proper traction I've got a 12 second car. But that's with proper traction

I really hope you weren't implying it's turboed, if so you should not be driving a car as expensive as that one! Unless of course you turboed it yourself, then I retract my previous statement.

But if you haven't turboed the car, I'm going to have to agree with poweredbyunclebens on this one, you should get it checked out, that noise probably isn't going to render anything good.

I find this hard to believe. I'm not flat out calling you a liar or anything, it's just there are so many people who come on this forum and post BS stories with "fairy-tale" cars that they make up in their head.

Post your pics, mods and dyno sheet and I bet you'll be surprised how warm of a welcome you'll get from everybody here. But without those, I wouldn't expect anybody to believe, or read, much of what you say.

Well yeah I guess it was a compliment in a way one that I would never give someone else. I guess I should get a exhaust silencer or something loud mufflers get too much attention.

Didn't feel like lowering the size of the pics and 1 dyno vid so here you go. Yes it's turboed and I don't BS. I've run different times at the track with different boost levels. At 10-11 psi I run mid 13's with traps of 105-108mph. At 15psi I can hit low 13's easily with traps 110-113mph. All my 60's are 2.3-2.4

With the crappy cali 91 octane I can run 10-11 psi safely. To run 15 psi I usually mix 76 100 unleaded ocatne with 91 to get about 94-95 octane. I have pushed 17.5 psi on the highway with all 100 octane in the tank against a 350Z and it wasn't a pretty sight after I was done.

Car has a PFS (Peter Farrell Supercars) stage II kit on it, installed by PFS (car was shipped to Virginia). I plan on upgrading by the end of the year with either 2JZ-GTE internals or a complete GTE bottem end swap to handle up to 500rwhp easily. Future plans is the Supra V160 6 speed manual tranny swap. And don't ask how much I have in the car already also :P
