help: 97 528i doesn't start

when I turn the key, all the dash lights come on, but no start/click nothing. I have power, as all my headlights and everything is working fine, but no start. I ran a wire from the starter to the + side of the terminal and the starter is good. it turns but no start. It almost seems like there is something with the security system and starter kill for the fuel and starter.

Didn't have any problem before. I stopped, locked the car with the factory keyless remote, came back, unlock with the keyless remote and now no start. can someone please help????

how do I disable the alarm in case this is the problem? like to try to resolve this without going to the dealer. thanks

Re: help: 97 528i doesn't start

key may need to be checked for that its good. the security system is called EWS and it works by a code in your key if you have a spare you might want to try and use that EWS will cut fuel and spark if the code isnot identified by the EWS modual and the DME(ECm) since your car donst start this means that the Ring( the pick up of the key code thats in the key) may not be picking it up and transmitting it. this is somthing for the dealer and you wont be able to fix this by urself sorry

after trying a spare key, you should be able, as an alternative to the dealer, find an independent shop with a BMW MoDiC or GT-1 diagnostic computer. If they've made the investment for one of these, chances are GOOD there'll be someone there who can help you out at hopefully LOWER COST.........jb.
