port polish question
can a mild port polsh be performed on an engine's exahust ports, with the header removed only, or does the entire engine need to be taken out and disassembled, my only real concern is that metal shaving backing up into the exhaust valves and doing some damage...thanks

As long as you you only work on one port at a time and make sure that the exhaust valve is closed on that cylinder so nothing falls onto the piston. Having compressed air available to blow out all the dust would be helpful.
How much power are you expecting to pick up from polishing the port as is shown on the site you posted? If you plan on using a die grinder to enlarge the port, you should really pull the head off so a proper job can be done. |

Re: port polish question

Re: Re: port polish question
Not very much power
Do not try to port/polish your head for the first time. There's no going back, a job better off left to the pro's or going with some thing like a gude head package. http://www.sa-motorsports.com/diyport.htm |
