Radiator Installation 94 Taurus

Is it difficult to repalce the radiator in a 94 Taurus? Any tricks? Any suggestions for finding online documentation?

I have a copy of the Ford Service manual on CD for 1993 to 1994 and if you send me your e-mail address, i'll send you a copy of the removal and installation section for the radiator.

It is not difficult. I have a '94 Sable and can have my radiator out in less than 20 minutes. The hardest part is taking off and re-installing the transmission lines on the side of the radiator.

Basically, you just drain the radiator, disconnect both the top and bottom hoses, remove anything that covers the area above the radiator and between the radiator and the engine.

One thing I found helped was that I undid the lines for the power steering unit and this made removal a lot easier.

There should be two bolts holding the fan assembly in place. One bolt is just about top left center on the fan shroud and the second bolt should be on the right side of the radiator by the battery.

Disconnect the power cable to the fan and the fan assembly should be able to be lifted straight up. The fan motor can be tight against the manifold but if youk, you should be able to remove it.

on the top right and left side of the radiator there should be two bolts that hold the radiator to the cross brace. There will probabally be two bolts on the lower back side of the radiator holding transmission cooling lines that must be removed. Like I said, the transmission lines on the left side of the radiator are the worst part. Not only are they the hardest to remove but they can be a real bugger to install, especially the lower one. Mine was a bear.

One other thing on the R&R
Depending on what part of the year it was built you may or may not need a special wrench to remove the transmission cooling lines.

It is just 5 or six bucks.
Something else to consider while you are doing that is to add a transmission cooler to it. Very good insurance.

Thanks for the info. I was lucky and did not need any special tools. The bottom line is a bit of a bear but it went ok.
