I recently sucked up water from the cold air and of course got the gine blocked. I was wondering, would it be better to fix the engine or to put it a 1g engine in it. Since it has bigger heads and all. I want more power of course. The car has a 420A DOHC engine in it. What do you suggest? Is it possible to change the 2g engine for a 1g one? What mods need to be done? And what type of engine should be replaced with?

Re: 1G engine in 2G body
Well, I'm assuming you would want to drop the 1g 4g63 engine in, right? I know you don't want the silly 1.8 liter 1g engine
Anyways, it is very possible to do that swap, but it would take LOTS of $$$! For one, the engine is completely backwards of the 420A and you'd have to do lots of work on the actual engine bay itself to get it to fit right. IMO, I wouldn't do it unless I had lots of money to blow on whatever I wanted. If I were you, I would just buy a new 420A engine and build it up (block/head work, cams, etc). That should keep you busy for quite a while

Re: 1G engine in 2G body
From what the mechanic told me, the problem would more than likely be in the block. Wouldn't it be cheaper to get the block fixed and at the same time have the heads ported or something? I know that chaning the heads and intake manifold to the 1g takes alot of work. Yeah I was thinking of getting this one fixed and work on it.

Re: 1G engine in 2G body
That'd definitely be the way to go if you decide to stick with the 420A: Build the motor and then add some boost!

Re: 1G engine in 2G body
Just check a junkyard for a wrecked one and scavange the block from the motor.

Re: 1G engine in 2G body
Nope, you cannot swap motors like a Honda can. 420A is what you are stuck with. My advice is switching cars instead of a turbo kit. Test drive a GSX.

Re: 1G engine in 2G body
The 2.4L from a Stratus but it would be backwards. Search for it on 2gnt.. if you want to know what you need to do for it to fit.

Re: 1G engine in 2G body
here is a site I happened to find. I have a blown block and have to start all over also. It is a rebuild kit for the 420A.
