OK my truck runs fine except that it doesn't like to start. It will crank for about 10 seconds then starts up and runs great. I took it to the mechanic and he put dielectrode(no clue how to spell that) grease on a little part (black box with prongs) and it was working great. But now I can't remember what the box is called. Can anyone help me?

Re: Help I'm proving I'm a girl again
Dielectric grease is the name. It sounds like the little black box may be the distributor cap. A little more info about your truck would help: Year, model, engine size. Also, how many prongs were sticking out of the black box and were they rounded at their ends?

Thank you so much for replying. I know it is not the distributor cap. I have a 1997 C1500 automatic. The black box was about 1 1/2-2" tall and basically rectangular. I think he said it was like out of the brain box or something like it is a sensor of some sort. (Sorry I am fully aware that girls this clueless should just take it to a mechanic.)

Re: Help I'm proving I'm a girl again
Well, sorry I can't be of more help, but I can't pinpoint what the box is. 97's have a lot of black boxes. pictures may help (if possible) of the location and the box itself.

Yea a picture would be quite helpful. If not, at least where is it in the engine bay.
