Re: Rear End

It depends on what you are going to use the truck for; is the motor stock or "built".
Your best option is a ford 9-inch, it is the strongest and can handle a lot of power. You may also want to look at a chevy 10-inch, from a pick-up truck. You will have to get the rearend shortened to fit the truck, but those will last longer.
I have an 87 S10 with a stock 350 in it and still using the 2.2L rearend, and I dragrace it occasionally, too. Never had a problem !!!!!!!!

Re: Re: Rear End

The motor is stock and would my best bet be to go to a junkyard and look for one??? I was told that a rear end from a 4x4 s-10 would work.....

Re: Rear End

The rear end from a 4X4 might work, if it is from a truck with a 4.3L engine. However, there may be a problem with the mounting points for the leaf springs (different angle !!), but double check.
As I said earlier, I have my original 2.2L rear end in my truck and it has been working for 4+ years. I am not stomping on the gas when I drive the truck (most times !!) & I change and inspect the rear end and oil every year.
