3300 /3800 questions....

I was told some while back that the 3300 and the 3800 v6 are essentially the same block with different crankshafts and pistons....

First off is this true????

Second off ... if the above is true.. how many parts could be swapped???Could the intake manifolds be swapped??? I figure if they can that could amount to a bit more power because of the larger intake runners and a larger diameter throttle body.....

and lastly.... (again if the first statement is true) could i get a crank, and pistons fom a 3800 and make a 3800 look like a 3300 (for the sleeper factor)

Thanks,
~Aaron

There are some parts between the 3300 and 3800 that will interchange, but if you're going to go that far, you'd be better off just putting the 3800 in it. It would require the complete engine electrical system, all sensors, and the ECM for the 3800 (from the car it came out of is the best source), but the effort would certainly be worth it. I do believe the intakes are interchangable between the 3300 and the Series I 3800, but probably not with the Series II or III 3800's.

Plus, aftermarket parts availability for the 3800's is far greater than the 3300.

Good luck,
Steve

Oops, I forgot to mention ....they are both based off the same block, the Buick 90º V6.
