1990 Honda Accord EX auto, what is the "sport button"
I have an 1990 accord ex automatic. There is a button on the shift knob and it it says "Sport" on it and a light lights up green on the cluster when I turn it on . What does it do when it turns on? Sorry for the dumb question.

Not a dumb question, just poor research. Type "sport button" in the search box above, and hit enter - you've got your answer.

Re: 1990 Honda Accord EX auto, what is the "sport button"
It holds gears longer, allowing the car to utilize higher rpm's during acceleration. It also makes the car more willing to downshift when you press the gas. Basically increases acceleration and decreases gas mileage. Try accelerating from a standstill with the button on as well as off, and watch the tachometer. You will notice the rpm's rise about 500 rpm higher before it will allow the tranny to shift to next gear when the sport button is on.
