Are there Angels? Are there Saints?
Are there Angels? Are there Saints?
Why do people pray to them? God States: Do not pray to anyone but me. Do not pray to pictures or Statues. Why do we do this?

Re: Are there Angels? Are there Saints?
This is just one of the many inconsistencies of the various Christian faiths. You are correct, we are not supposed to worship anyone other than God, yet many (not all) organised Christian churches cover the landscape in mini-Gods and graven images to which we are allowed to pray.
I have teased Catholics about this, who earnestly believe that the devine powers given to saints, the Virgin Mary, the Holy Ghost etc are really just stem from God himself, and that worshipping them is the same as worshipping God. Personally, I think thats nonsense. Many Christian franchises (churches) are polythiestic, that is they believe in many gods, just like the ancient Romans, Greeks and Egyptians. |

Re: Are there Angels? Are there Saints?
We (not me personally) do this because we have gotten off track. I think that sometimes it's because we think we are not good enough to talk to God personally so we create "mini-Gods" (thanks for the new description MR) to talk to God for us. I guess the truth of the matter is that we aren't good enough. The great thing is that he doesn't mind.

When I pray I always pray to God. I do believe in angels and saints however. I do feel that sometimes something or someone tells me to drive in a different direction or leave at a certain time. I also feel these saints/angels have been with me at various times and kept me out of trouble, but as a way of learning life lessons. My mom has had feelings of these at different times in her life as well.
Don't want this thread to turn into an argument of different christian religions, but I do feel that the catholic church doesn't get resepct b/c of how old it is and the fact the church hasn't changed it's views on anything for anyone. I am catholic, but do not have all the same views as the church. But I really don't think any catholic does. I would like to thank you for creating this thread. I was beginning to lose faith in God for certain reasons, but you have caused me to remind myself how good things are for me. Even though I still question why certain things haven't gone my way. So thanks.

Thats got to be one of the hardest things about keeping your faith. http://www.barefootsworld.net/footprints.html those are the times that (I believe) you are being taught things or that you are being given an experience to aid you some time later in life. Recently ive gone through an experience in that I was certain that I knew who I would end up marrying after college. we broke up almost 3 months ago. since then ive still wondered about her, and now a second girl. less than a week ago, A close friend of the family came to me out of the blue and gave me a word that it was neither of them, that there was someone else. At the time, this about crushed me, but since then im learning that God knows what he's doing, and that things will always turn out according to His plan. Best of luck to you! back on-topic, i believe that there are angels and saints, they are constantly talked about in the Bible, but by no means do I believe in them

Re: Are there Angels? Are there Saints?
(churches) are for gathering $$$. It is just another institution, which has walls, with a door. With that in mind, of course these walls with a door are more than ready to welcome "" ALL "" that are willing to leave money to listen to a priest, who may or may not be a molestor of some sort, but as well to gander at the beutiful works or art.
As for Angels I do believe they exsist. GOD, I do believe in. Saints, thats another story. GOD is not walls with a door, but that of everything. If one is willing to leave $$ at the door to show their belief in GOD, then I will send you my address. " Agree with this statement " Don't want this thread to turn into an argument of different christian religions, but I do feel that the catholic church doesn't get resepct b/c of how old it is and the fact the church hasn't changed it's views on anything for anyone.
