2003 sebring torque converter can it cause whining

my dealer says my torque converter is causing a whing noise has any one ever heard of this

yes it definetly can. that happened in my 99 sebring jxi. soon afterwards it blew out. we needed a new TC and some trans. work.

Mine did it when I went to buy the car. It made a high pitched whine that sped up when car reved up. In all gears. Took it to a tranny guy and he said a clogged filter will do that. Went home changed transmission filter and fluid, and sound was gone. Mine is a 1999 Sebring LXI with auto matic and overdrive. 2.5 V6 motor
