944 parts car

How much do yall think an '87 944 N/A would be worth (in total) parted out? Good engine, good transaxle, good interior, good body (expect for one panel), in fact everything is in great condition expect for the front driver side rim, rotor, spindle, and wishbone and maybe a couple other small things in that area (pretty sure strut is fine as well as the steering rack). It was rainy one morning and I slid around a corner on accident and hit a curb, and the shop (that charges $80/hr) said it would cost approx $2500 to fix, and my insurance doesn't cover it so I'm just considering selling it as is or parting it out and wanted to know how much it would be worth?

Re: 944 parts car

After just after a year. of having it? dude that sucks!!! I dont need anyparts for mine (yet) but Ive noticed how tricky mine is in the rain. Especially in these heavy all day floods we get here in florida over the summer. And Ive almost gotten bitten a couple of time drifting it in the rain.
Any Idea what your getting to replace it?
Sorry for your loss dude.

Re: 944 parts car

Well I can't afford another car right now, and I can't really afford to fix it....before I wrecked it I was planning on selling it anyway maybe at the end of the year and getting a '94 - '96 Corvette, but those plans will have to be delayed now. I think what I'm gonna try to do (if I can get enough money out of my car - I need about $4500ish) I'll try to get a motorcycle and ride it until I can afford another car; I was also planning on getting a motorcycle sometime within the next year or so, so maybe those plans will be moved up

Re: 944 parts car

well back about 4-5 years ago your car would have gotten you about 10,000 if you waited long enough to sell every little thing. But thanks to these web sites everyone and their brother is selling parts for pennies. you'll be better off selling the whole car unless you have space to store the parts for a long period of time. Heres a quick list of what I've been able to sell and the prices I've gotten for the stuff
Full set of phone dails-400
complete nose-500
under 100K engine-1000
good control arms-75 each
complete doors-150
non-sport seats-300
hatch-300
trans axle-500
dash-100
carpets-100
torque tube-200
rear torsion tube-400
wind shield-50(he took it out)
everything else went to the junk yard
Good luck and sorry for loss

Re: 944 parts car

Thanks for the info 930guy, definately useful stuff. You say I might be better off selling it as-is. The car's in great shape except for those few parts; We bought it for $9000, and have about $5000 in reciepts over the past year and a half that I've had it. I probably would have asked $7500 - $8000 or best offer had I advertised the car before the wreck. Any suggestions on how I would go about selling it (whole) now and how much I should ask for it? I have pics before the wreck if that will help.
