why won't my ar cd player play any sound?

well i connected all the wires from my car's original wires to the wires coming out of the radio. And yes they are all right. I know how to connect the wires and i double checked that all the wires are correctly connected. No when I turn on the car only the radio turns on and starts spinning the cd. But no sound comes out of the speakers and just really quiet bass comes out of the woofer. So then i ripped everything apart again and tried to connect the radio directly to the battery. I connected the yellow and red wires to the positive and the black wire to the ground. Then I connected 2 speakers one from the purple set of wires and the other from the white set of wires and still there is no sound. I tried different speakers also and same problem. I know both sets of speakers do work since I tried them on a friends car. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I installed an aftermarket cd player in my friends early 90s cougar and it had the same problem. Turns out, circuit city sold us the wrong wiring harness.

If this is still a problem, you may need an in car amp bypass harness. Ford amps will not allow sound to pass from an aftermarket head unit. You can get on from best buy. They can also verify if your car needs it. Different models have different set ups. Good Luck,
Hallboy

My aftermarket alpine headunit worked just fine without a factory amp bypass.

Re: why won't my ar cd player play any sound?

have you verified that the head unit works? Maybe just put an extra speaker out of the car to one of the leads and see what happens. With newer cars it can be a real pain with out a harness to ensure all the connections are right. Best of luck on this.

Well you need to also make sure that the remote wire is hooked up that is very important without that it will not work
