Question Fuel pressure regulator question

Would a fuel pressure regulator cause:
1) Your "service engine soon" light to come on
2) your engine to momentarily "starve" for fuel after acceleration (accelerate up to speed, level off, engine flounders...rpms go from 1200 to 600 back to 1200).
3) A "main fuel pump circuit malfunction" diagnostic reading (from Autozone)

2000 GMC Yukon XL 1500

Thanks for your response(s).

Re: Fuel pressure regulator question

I'm not sure, but I do know that fuel pumps on these vehicles are a problem. Idle fluctuation can also be a problem. Whether it is the fuel pump, the regulator, or something with the computer, you might as well go ahead and take it to a certified shop, (that isn't a rip-off) and have them look at it. They can program GM updates into your pcm to fix many idle problems (plus they'll program tranny updates and a few others and it shouldn't cost any more). I like to work on my own cars, but when it comes to my 01 Denali, I think its better to take it straight to my dealer where the have the proper equipment to diagnose and fix the problem. I know this reply doesn't help at all, sorry.

"I know this reply doesn't help at all, sorry."

Actually your post does help. The vehicle is in the shop today to have the diagnostic done again. I'll see if they have updates to program into the system.

Thanks
