finding my 67 chevelle

I purchased new a 1967 chevelle ss and sold it a couple of years later.

I am now trying to find the vehicle but have had no success and wonder if anyone out there would have any ideas.

The dealership I purchased the vehicle at is out of business, Harry Mann chevrolet in Los angeles

I do not have any record of the vin number, all I know is the license plate number, which I have checked with the dmv and found that it has not been regestered in the last four years.

So I am a dead end, does anyone have any suggestions.

Thanks in advance for any assistance

Finding your Chevelle

One could visit the DMV or State license plate issuing authority to run a background check on the plate. Some states transfer plates with the car, some plates stay with the owner in some states like Florida. Carfax does not keep record of vehicles that old, and the search requires several more digits than the old cars VIN had. You may also consider a P.I. Good luck.

Re: finding my 67 chevelle

Perhaps the DMV can tell you the vin from the plates. I live in Mass. and the plate # can tell what the vehicle id was. Once you have the vin you may try calling the DMV in the surrounding states to see it is on the road elsewhere. But if it is sitting in someones back yard (or worse - in a scrap pile some where) you will only be able to track it down by word of mouth. Who did you sell it to? Ask them who they sold it to and so on. It can take a while - I've heard of a couple of guys taking 3 to 4 years to locate their old car. Good luck!

prpockets, I tried to send you an email, but you have them blocked. Email me with the plate number and I'll track it down for you.

Where do you go to track down the last registered owner of a vehicle. I tried California DMV but they would only tell me the last date my old car was registered.
