I have purchased an 85 Z28 and the barrel and key has been sticking,
the butterfly part has today detached itself and ignition lock is well and truly on hence cannot start or move wheel. Ive looked at the column to see how to remove offending barrel but cannot see anyway of releasing it, the housing is a one piece ally unit with no way of removing. Ive ordered a shop manual from the states but thats a week away. Its got tilt column with auto trans. Can anybody tell me how to remove the barrel without massive hamers and furious anger......? Re: Ignition barrel
yea you just pull the wheel and everything, and there will be a release bolt you will have to undo and it will slide right out

Re: Ignition barrel
your welcome, you just have to crank on it and it should pop right off, i used a gear puller to remove mine, removed the bolt and and slid right out
