help installing push button ignition, please!!!
![]() The instruction I got with this push button starter came in chinese--wtf??? Anyway I can not really figure out what wire needs to go where. I really could use some help I do not want to go splicing unnecessarily. I figure that the red is power, yellow accessory, the black connects to the button which has a black wire that I assume goes to ground, but what does the white wire go to? Please if you have some suggestions could you help me?

The system that you have pictured looks to be just a relay and a push button. Your relay should have four terminals that you'll have to use. The terminals should be numbered as 85, 86, 83, 87a and 87.
Don't worry about the fifth one as you won't need it for this application. 85 will be a trigger and 86 will be your ground. 87 will be your out put to your starter wire 83 will be your constant (or battery) first off you'll need to find out which three wires are your ignition, starter wire and constant. for this you'll need a multimeter or a circuit safe test light. i recommend a multimeter for the safest way to go. Constant, (or battery) will read 12v all the time no matter if the key is in the ignition or not your ignition wire will read 12 volts in all but the locked position(that would be constant if it still reads 12v in the off position.) your start wire will only read 12v when in the start position (go figure) with you push button mounted where ever you'll need to attach one wire of the button to ignition, and the other to 85 on the relay. 86 will go to ground. 83 off the relay will go to the start wire and 87 will go to constant. When you press the button you are sending 12 volts to the psitive side of the relay and the relay is in turn sending 12v to the starter. Obviosley you will still need the key in the ignition for this to work, but like the s2000 you won't have to vcrank the motor with the key. Best of luck and let me know if you have any questions!!! |
