Having starting problems
I hope someone can please help since I'm car illiterate. I purchased a 1992 Mazda 323, not sure if it's a GT or a GTX since I bought it cheap from my brother, but it's the 2 door hatchback, fuel injected kind. Hope that helps a little. Anyways, it was running perfectly fine up until a couple of days ago. It sat outside for a few days before I used it again and then it didn't even turn over. The ignition didn't even click so I checked to see if I had forgotten to turn the headlights off. No, that wasn't the problem. A friend was able to jumpstart it and tested the brand new battery with no problems found. The battery was a little low on liquids inside the cells, but other than that nothing wrong. It started right up. Went over to the friend's house and it sat for 4-5 hours and again, went to start it and nothing. The ignition not clicking, battery fine. They jumped it a second time and I took it home and it sat completely overnight before I tried starting it at 6am. It started up just fine, but when I tried again at 6pm that same day it was back to nothing. Right now it's sitting in front of my house and everytime I get into it it has the seatbelts that retract across the top of the door when you open them. I can hear the power to them get weaker and weaker. Can someone please throw some ideas at me as to what could the problem be? Something I could at least look at?
Thanks. |

Re: Having starting problems
i had kinda the same problem with my 94 protege lx and then one day it just stopped completely on the way to school. before that, my car would only have problems starting up on hot or humid days. i looked at my ignition system and pinpointed a bad distributor cap and ignition coil. i changed all of that up and everything was perfectly fine afterward. if that isnt the problem......you might have a bad fuel pump. when u put ur keys in to ur ignition and turn them to turn on electronics in ur car... sit there and listen in silence and within a few seconds you should here a faint wining motor sound. that's ur fuel pump. if u dont hear it maybe that's ur problem. i had this problem with my civic.
