Voltage Regulator location 1994 Sable
I know what you guys are thinking - Look it up! Well I have. In several different manuals, they all say the same thing. This Sable is an odd ball. It says on the title it is a 1994 Sable. I have where it is supposed to be from the manuals - front left corner of the engine compartment with a picture of it, you can see the hood rubber stop sticking up in the pix. There is even a little cutout for it and everything. Well the regulator and the cutout isn't there. Nobody can seem to find it without going on a search mission. Nothing on any of the walls or around the engine compartment area look like a VR. That is without taking parts off to find it. Under the battery maybe?
Maybe if you know where that is, you would also know where the breather filter is for it. That isn't where the manuals say either. The PCV valve hose goes under the cover on top of the engine. No filter? There doesn't seem to be a spot for it from where the air comes in to where the block is. |

Re: Voltage Regulator location 1994 Sable
I believe the regulator is an integral part of the alternator on these vehicles, same as Tauraus and all other models for many moons now. The only thing I know of that may be considered a breather filter is the air filter to the engine. Just follow you air intake tube back or consult with owners manual.

Re: Voltage Regulator location 1994 Sable
Found the regulator, it is in the alternator. The service manager said that they switched from the old style to the integrated style around that time frame, I also found out that the car is a 1992 and not a 1994 sable according to Ford's VIN. This isn't my car so either I was shown the wrong title or the state made a mistake. BTW the alternator and regulator is fine. It is new, I was afraid someone put a new alternator on and didn't replace the regulator and it was old and flakey.
I managed to not ask the service man about the breather filter... 'doh. |
