GSR preparation for Turbo

Hello Everyone....

I have a 96 GSR engine in my 97 Civic. I am getting the engine ready for turbo and I wanted to know exactly everything that I would need to change to get the engine and turbo running at max speed.

I was thinking of getting eagle rods, JE 9.0:1 pistons, Shunk2 stage 2 camshafts, Skunk2 valuatrain set and Skunk2 Camgears and anything else that I need to add or I missed. Thanks for the help and advise.

Re: GSR preparation for Turbo

crower got some nice "turbo" cams. you dont want something too radical on your car. You definately missed a fuel system up above, you will also need some kind of a piggy back ecu or an rising rate pressure riser, injectors, pump. Look around on E-Bay for ECU's, I got a good deal on my Hondata from there for only like $150.00 more than an VAFC. Your gonna need an exhaust and gagues (good gagues arent cheap). Eagle rods and JE pistons are a great combo....stick with them. You should send your block out and have it sleeved for turbo use to ensure that you havent wasted your $$ on pistons and rods just to destroy them. Your stock clutch will not last very long so that will die soon after you add boost unless you drive like a granny.

I decided to go with the Crower Stage II turbo cams. Also I wanted to know which cat back to go with the Tusdo Fireball or the Skunks2 system. Will the DC 4-1 header work well the one of those two cat backs?

Re: GSR preparation for Turbo

Tusdo Fireball....wtf is that....if you are going turboyou will need a 3" exhaust unless u wanna choak on the top end......im guessing you dont know too much about turbos cause you dont use a header on a turbo car...you use a turbo manifold. I think before you go and spend your money, go invest in a couple books mainly "turbocharging" and basic engine knowledge type of book to give you some head up about engines.
