engine swap...tranny too?

ok i'm very very new to toyota and my mom gave me a corolla and ppl are tellin me to swap it for a 4age, 4agze, or 4age20v. now since all of these motors come off rwd cars, don't i need to swap out the tranny too? if so can i get some price estimates on how much the whole swap would be if i payed someone else for the labor?
