First race in 5 weeks (se-r vs. tsi) same race as 97tsi

First of all this has already been posted by the other guy. I Apologize for the repost I didn't even know he was on this forum. ::it's a small world after all:: btw thanks for not making me look as bad as you could of.

So its about 12 o'clock saturday night, and I'm off to the local cost cutter to see if anyone is gathering. In front of there is an eagle talon. It didn't have an aftermarket exhaust or rims. I didn't expect him to race, but after I passed him he started tailing me.

From about 70mph we race up to about 120. Every time I'm getting my ass handed to me. Afer getting beat twice I see his a-pillar, and i notice his gauges. We both get off at the same exit, and I pull up to him at a stoplight.

I rolled down my window, and asked him to meet up at a parking lot. he asks me if it's an se-r (debadged), and I tell him yeah. He said all he has done is the k&n filter. He says he's always wanted to race one from a dig. Then he suggests a race from a stop. I figured I'd get whooped but what the hell.

I told him that the race would just be over when he pulled a few cars on me ( I expected to lose). Meet up on an industrial road line up he honks 3 times and we're off. I get a pretty good launch courtesy of the lsd, and new tires. . Through first gear, and up to about 40mph we're pretty even, but after that he just starts pulling hard, and by the time I hit aorund 80 he's an easy two cars ahead. We race three times with the same results. Except for the second when I missed a shift (it's the first time on the new clucth) It was nice to finally race, and see where my car stands. The clutch, and tires seem to help quite a bit. Can't wait to get my other performance mods. Don't quote me on the exact speeds it's just my best interpretation of the night

footnotes: Race a tsi. Get beat on hghway. Race from stop. Even untill 40mph but eventually owned

Your 17-inch rims are killing you, trust me.

Wouldnt the tire be the actuall problem though, because the rim is not the part that is making the actual revolution on the ground the tire is. Im not an expert just using some logical thinking. Although in one fact you are right carnut because rim size affects the tire you can get, but if he bought a tire with a small side wall he wouldnt have the problem.

My old tires didn't help at all though. I don't think that these rims are too much heavier, and I know for a fact that even though they are Walsi tires they still hook better. The old ones would spin all over though. I could get good tires for the old front wheels though, and use those. I did consider the weight when i bought the new ones. I wanted 15" motegi track lites but they are expensive. $850 with tires isn't bad for what i got, and they looked good. I know it wasn't the best choice performance wise but on my budget it is a win some lose some proposition.

Make sure you stay updated on the forums. Either youngvr4 or myself will pm you once we set a date. I'd like to think that it should be sometime in the near future.
