Question fixing chewed hoses

I'm about to attempt my first repair on my 93 GSR.

The story goes: I drove it to Sequoia National Park and parked it for a 5-day backpacking trip. When I got back, I found a marmot in the engine, chewing away at the cables (apparently this is not uncommon at this particular parking lot). The car started out ok, but after a short period of time it would stall immediately after starging unless the engine was reved, and would idle at 1.5 K rpm (cold engine idle speed). Also, the fuel efficiency was low. Finally, after driving for 5 hours to get home, shifting became difficult.

Questions:
Is the first problem due to a fuel/air mixture problem? Will this be easy to fix if I find a chewed cable?

Is the second problem due to a chewed hydraulic clutch cable? Will this be easy to fix?

What should I get to prepare to fix these myself? I have a set of hex wrenches.
My insurance deductible is too high for these repairs to be covered.

Thanks,
-mark

Re: fixing chewed hoses

Nope.
A marmot is like a 2-foot long guinea pig.
