just got a 94 celica looking to get some power out of it

just got a 94 celica gt the other day now i am looking to get some more hp out of it and some better performance, but for some reason i cant find alot of performance parts for the car. does anyone have any sugestions on where to look and what would be the best way to get the max hp i can get out of it for a decent price. also does anyone know if it is worth getting mod chips? i hear they work by some don't by others and some say it is bad for engine.
