Idle prob

I just adjusted my valve clearance and now my idle is around 200-300 and it stutters when cold. But when it get really warmed up it goes back to 700. Any ideas? Car works great after the valve adjustment in terms of pickup and performance, except for the idling.

Re: Idle prob

idling at 200-300 RPMs is i think impossible. But yea check the idle air control valve. Adjust it and see if it makes a difference.

Re: Idle prob

Yeh its possible cuz its just above "0" and it cut off once at a stoplight. once it gets really hot, it goes back to normal about 700. where is the idle air control valve?

Re: Idle prob

coming back to what you did first,valve clearances should be (cold)0.18to 0.22 inlet--0.23 to 0.27 exhaust.also check air/vac pipes for integrity.plug gaps1.0mm to 1.1mm

Re: Idle prob

Well for my 91 CRX Si D16A6 motor. I had to unplug the IACV (Idle Air Control Valve) while the car was running and the adjust the Idle Screw which was located on the Throttle Body.
