Tranny problem?

the check engine light said, Clutch components slipping.... would changing the filter or the tranny fluid help this in any way since I doubt the tranny fluid has been replaced at all in it's 56k miles life...... I just got the truck 4K miles ago

what it does is it will only shift into second gear at 20 mph and then it will shift to third... and stay there unless I get it up to like 85 and it will slightly shift to 4th but then it will shift back to 3rd and stay there....

at the begining the tranny would shift from 2nd to 3rd to 4th no problem... after they extracted the code I reset the pcm and that's when 4th gear would not engage any more....

please help thanks......

Re: Tranny problem?

P1870 Transmission component slipping. You could have a worn passage in the valve body that allows TCC apply pressure to leak and causes the torque converter to slip. Take it to a good tranny shop. Might be time for a fuel filter too, the PCM uses throttle angle and MPH to determine when to shift.
