98 Windstar Shake

Good afternoon All,
When I drive my 98 Windstar, once I hit around 35 mph, the front end shakes quite badly, then stops after accelerating, then continues when I hit about 50-55 mph, and stops after accelerating again. I am assuming that this might just be an alignment issue, but want to make sure it is not something worse. Sometimes it will happen, other times it will not. I cannot get a consistent occurence when I want to. Any ideas?

Re: 98 Windstar Shake

I have been having the same issue for the past few weeks, if anyone has any ideas, my ears are open. I am leaning toward an electrical issue causing the problem, but who knows for sure.

Re: 98 Windstar Shake

I wouldn't think alignment is the issue here. Misalignment will normally show up as abnormal and faster tire wear and possibly pulling to one side or the other. I would check for tire(s) out of balance, possibly a bent rim, tie rod ends worn, rack & pinion problem, and maybe the struts getting weak. There may be more but those are the ones I'd start with.
