Question amp cuts out

hey, i'll admit right now to not knowing a thing about my system. i'm using a 300 watt amp to power 2 10" subs. it's wired so there's 300 watts to each sub. when i get the volume up to around 19-20 with certain songs that have a deep bass, it cuts out. the amp that is. both the adjustable knobs are fully turned and the amp is smoking hot!! is one of my adjusters not where i should have it? i put a 20 fuse instead of the 15, wrong or any difference?

Re: amp cuts out

for Haibane, and you should know who youre talking to before you say anything.

secondly, if certainly doesn't sound like it was "professionally" installed. either that or you messed with it. if it was professionally installed, take it back to them and tell them your problem

I agree, iffin you paid someone to install it - let them make it work. And never put bigger fuses in unless you know what you are doing, they are set at a certain size for a reason.

Haibane, you on a bent lately about self-intalls ?

thanks guys!! as i said rather rudely earlier, it was a professional job, but I was told to adjust the controls as i saw fit based on how i wanted it to sound. i have gone back to the 15 fuse, only switched because i was blowing fuses left and right because how i had it set.....i adjusted it today after consulting someone and it's purring like a dream!!!
thanks again

Re: amp cuts out

your amp is a 300w max wich means 300w bridged to one speaker at prob 8ohms. if you try to hook up two speakers to this amp it will drop it down to 4ohms and that will heat it up quick with input and output all the way up.set at half or get big amp

Check all of your connections to make sure they haven't come loose. Wipe any corrosion off of the battery terminal with one of those aluminum brush thingies. If the problem persists you may need a bigger amp and/or bigger gauge power lead. Try a 50W fuse and an 8 - 4 gauge wire. I recommend keeping the gain at 1/2 way max.

Seeing how you don't know though, take it to a professional.
