Stupid car!

Hi! My ridiculous excuse for a car (95 chevy lumina) once again is causing me grief! haha

The two rear brake lights work intermittently... sometimes nothing, sometimes both and sometimes just one. The brake light in the back window always works, and my tail lights and signal lights work fine.

My mechanic replaced the brake light switch (didn't work). He said that he only "got power from it sometimes" (whatever that means). Now he thinks it's the signal light switch... which seems to go along with a lot of the other forums on here.

My question is - do you have to replace the switch to fix this problem? Or can the wiring connected to the switch be repaired so that the connection works? I'm trying to avoid spending more money than necessary.

PLEASE HELP!!!

Turn signal switch. Check, replace, be happy.

Re: Stupid car!

Could also be a bround problem in one of the rear lights... see if you can check them or have them checked.

last tuesday, no kidding there, i just replaced the signal switch in my 95 lumina and it is not that hard to do yourself but you need the tools( stearing wheel puller and torque wrench and not much more). but that wasn't my problem. if you have a wireharness forw towing trailer, pull that off first. that solved my problem. but in your case i would bet it is the signal switch, look to spend about $120 on the part if not more, and it is kinda hard to find.
