95 gst question

I was wondering about how long a 95 eclipse gst would last. I found a 95 gst with 127,000 miles on it for about $3500. The timing belt was replaced at 85,000 miles and it was female driven (5 speed). What kind of deal is this?

Re: 95 gst question

Sounds about right for that mileage.

Re: 95 gst question

Decent deal IMO. You could probably find a lower mileage one for a little more...like 90k or so for closer to $5k. It depends on your goals for the car; are you going to keep it close to stock or are you trying for 400whp or what? You may want a lower mileage vehicle if the latter is your goal.

Re: 95 gst question

I'm in my last year of high school so I was thinking of doing only little things for now. Intake, exhaust, suspension, and maybe blow-off valve. I hear that lowering springs will ruin your stock shocks sooner or later, so what would be a good deal for suspension?

You should get aftermarket shocks. I would get a bov before messing with the suspension. I would probally get that first.. and if you are on a budget get a 1g BOV

Re: 95 gst question

Anyone know how much a new engine would cost? I'd probably just replace it with another 95 GST engine.

Re: 95 gst question

You would just do a rebuild, and you can price rebuild kits from sites like www.slowboyracing.com and i bet www.roadraceengineering.com has one. A car built for power might want a 6 bolt block, found in pre 92 turbo cars, but a stock 7 bolt can handle plenty.

you will have sooo much fun with it! that is a great price for the car, IMHO. if it has been properly kept and is stock and shit than you should have a pretty capable c on your hands. go for it!
