Gauge cluster wire colors, PLEASE HELP!!! installing indiglo…

Gauge cluster wire colors, PLEASE HELP!!! installing indiglo…

Got 95 v6 camaro.
Got it all done, just need to hook the new gauge face plate up to 12 v. there is a big old plug into the cluster with some 20 wires in different colors. Tapped into red – nothing. Tapped into orange – got power, it lit up, but it STAYS ON. I obviously need it to be on only when the headlights/gauge backlight is on…. Tapped into the red wire to the headlight knob, same thing – stays on whether lights on or off….is maybe one of the other wires coming out of the light knob one that has power going thru it only when lights on?

Anyway, on the cluster, I got following colors:
2 pink, black, brown, green, 2 pea green, purple, 2 white, black&white, blue, lighter blue, gray, brown-gray, yellow, purple&white, beige, beige& white…..i’m sure I overlooked some…

so which one to tap to only get power when lights on???

Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

p.s. friend just advised to tap into red (power) wire for the radio so gauges glow anytime key is on…that would be kinda cool…good idea??? Would I have to pull the radio out?

i would assume it would be on the dimmer circuit, i can look into that tomorrow for you if i remember. i think its a yellow or tan wire for that. but im not sure. best way to test is with the plug in the back of the cluster, but with the cluster hangin out, use a testlight to back probe each terminal. and turn the dimmer back and forth, when you probe a wire that dims the test light bulb up and down with the dimmer, thats the one you want to use.
