Thumbs up 96 Jetta GLS Speedo Problem

Somewhere within the confines of this Forum is my original Thread on my Speedo problem. I am here today to say that the problem appears to be fixed.

After almost 40 hours of tech time in diagnosis and parts replacement - after over 20 hours of mnissed out vacation time - after 3 days of free loaners cars - after the replacements of a transmission sensor, the ignition switch, and numerous small parts - the ROOT CAUSE appears to have been ...... the Instrument Cluster!

The technician who has been working on this problem for the last 6 months finally observed the speedo drop in the shop when he moved the instrument cluster. Needless to say, that was two weeks ago. The cluster got replaced last Monday. Tomorrow will be 7 days of perfect working order. At that time, I will declare victory and fill out the Customer Feedback card.

Is there any redeeming value to all of this? You Betcha!
I only spent $50 for the whole repair - my deductible for the Maintenance Agreement I bought when I got the car. Hallelullah!

The loser is the Dealership (who ate up tech time trying to find the problem) AND the Insurance Company who has lost money on the sale due to incompetent dealer techies.

Well, 3,000 more miles and the Agreement is history. Then, it's "out-of-pocket" time.

Bye Ya'll.
