mod questions

Within the next 2 months I am planning on buying a late model 1999 Silverado Z71. I am going to do the following to it:
1. Get K&N filter.
2. Get Performance Chip.
3. Get dual exhaust with glass packs.

What I was wondering about was, what order to do these things in because I've heard that you should put the performance chip in last of all the mods you do to your truck, because it will be the most effective. Anyone enlighten me on this, and what are the best Performance Chip to get, I am looking for gas mileage mainly. I've heard that most the chips are pretty similar, do any stand out? Also, what is the loudest glass packs out there? Thx

Don't get glass packs. They won't do anything in the way of performance.

Flowmasters, flowmasters, flowmasters there legal and they sound cool.

...wait a minute, whats wrong with the sound of no mufflers at all. I'll help you out. Try this, it worked for me twice.

"I know it's illegal officer, I've just been so busy with work, I haven't had a chance to take it in a get mufflers put on it yet."

I have a 2000 silverado 2WD with a 5.3L, and I'm planning on doing similair mods to my truck. I've heard good things about the hypertech tuner, but as far as gas mileage goes I've heard that dual exhausts lower gas mileage and with some performance chips you have to use premium gas, but I'm not sure about that one...

Re: mod questions

My duals increased my mileage slightly, as well as increased power. The Hypertech did the most performance increase, and you can set it for either regular, or premuim gas..the premium setting yeilds the most power. My K&N FIPK also helped on the mileage as well, and added a bit of power, plus it looks intimidating.

Let's put it this way, one of the local deputy's 04 Crown Vic cant keep up, and I still get 400 to a tank.

I'll sell you the one that is on my truck..
..........I live in Texas though
The postage on that thing would be more than the tool box is worth, I guess!

They are a local company here in phoenix that our parts dept and body shop uses, prices are pretty fair.
