I'm not too excited about what's happening to my truck. I bought the truck from a friend with 195,000 miles on it, ran pretty good until about a month later some stuff went wrong on it. Come to find out i needed to replace the head gaskets. Along with that, i got a new radiator ( the 3rd one since it blew due to the pressure), replaced the spider injector, relpaced the spark plugs and wires, put in new exhaust manifolds, replaced one of the motor mounts, and had an oil change about 1,000 miles or so ago. It ran ok for a while and then it acted up again. The ABS light will not go out, the Red Brake light on the dash stays on also when I drive. Each time I try to put on the defrosters or on any other position other than "Off" on the dial, I get a squealing noise from the A/C Compressor? (I think thats what is squealing) It was replaced before I bought the truck with a remanufactured part. The truck hasn't started on the first turn of the key since I got it back from being repaired. Recently (as of this morning), as I was on my way home from work, when the engine started to make knocking noises. The oil pressure dropped to almost nothing and the car stalled. I checked the oil, and it was in the operating range. Could it be the oil pump or am I looking at another few weeks without a vehicle? It now has about 208,000 miles on it. PLEASE HELP!!

208,000 miles on the clock? I suggest you just get the motor rebuilt or replace it. The mileage is really what's giving you problems. The age of the vehicle is causing all of the little issues that the vehicle has out into the open.
Your problem does sound like the oil pump. I don't think you have to remove the engine to replace it, but you will need to do a lot of disassembly on the underside of the car. As far as the brakes go, you might have a problem with you main brakes. The computer will automatically turn on the ABS light whenever the regular brake light comes on as a result of a problem. Has the vehicle done anything different as far as braking goes? Is the pedal too hard or too soft, or is it still operating normally? |

Re: 1995 S-10 Blazer 4x4... Problems with the whole thing!! Help me!
As far as my braking is concerned, I do think they need to be either adjusted or replaced. It does take long to stop the vehicle. I've driven a friend's Blazer, same year and model, and their braking system is much better. I have to depress the brake somewhat hard for them to stop, which is a pain in the butt!!

Pull the fuse to the ABS system. It wont make the light go out and you wont have ABS but it should make your brakes better.

Do you think that it is worth the expense and/or time to replace the oil pump? I was also told that the crankshaft?? or other part would be close to replacement due to the simple fact of high mileage. I'm starting to think that I need to look for another blazer.
