well iwas watching the real world and they were out side a club and one of the white chicks said to some guy "what's up nigga" prsomething like that and they got into a big argument...well she went to the black guy on the show and confided in him...well he immediately took offence and got mad and said that he gets offend by people whose use that word...but he said he uses the word when he's with his friends

retarded people...gawd they get on my nevers...same with the people who say "what's up dog"...i just look at them...do i look like a freakin dog...but everyone takes offense when another race uses the word...so i guess they can only degrade themselves man...hate when people call us nigger but we can use the same word...just make a slang word out of it

but this is just my rant...sure this thread will get me in trouble...but people make me sick using double negatives

It's like those that call themselves African American when they have never even been to Africa, let alone come from there. I could take offense at that, after all, I am from South Africa, instead I just laugh at them.

Eh, i get called that all the time and im white. guess its cuz all my freinds are black. And it irritates me when someone walks up and thinks its funny and they say stuff like wuts up my homie g dog, or the infamous one i get Wut up my neeeeger (they say it just like that) I almost got in a fight with a couple kids cuz they said racial slurs to my friends. It just irritates me, people need to quit actin dumb and realize were not in the time when there was segregation. Sigh, such idiots these days. Some people are more sensetive to race then others. Words convey meaning and some words convey stong negative feelings. Its unfortunate that there are so many hypocrites when it comes to using some of the more racially charged phrases out there.

My wife is Chinese, though she was actually born in Korea (a real hair raising story on how her grand parents escaped during the revolution - complete with torture and pirates). Its interesting to hear her take on some race issues as shes from a very small minority where we live.

My own opinion is that people try and label everything - including other people. Few people conform to simple categories and I think it causes more harm then good in the long run.

Why is it that racist slurs only exist for those races that don't have a distinctive cuisine, and usually a chain of restaurants purporting to prepare and serve said cuisine.

there was a time when signs were posted up in the store fronts directed at specific nationalities of predominantly white people to not apply for the job, but i think that was about it....

i like to relate the N bomb to the infamous B word, it's ok for one woman to call another woman the B word, but it's horrible if a guy says it......same with Jewish people telling other Jewish people jewish jokes

my theory is that the word is said to members of the same race/religion/gender/sexual orientation, is so that it can be a desensitization factor. it's trying to be used so that it doesn't hurt as much when somebody says it. but lets face it, there are still small-brained, pig-headed, bigots in the world who use these words to hurt others. what i like to think is that when somebody(lets say uses the N bomb) towards a black person and isn't black, the black person can't decipher if the person who said it is racist or not, therefore instead of being an "Uncle Tom" they take offense.....Although i really don't like to say the word, or anything, i do take offense when anybody says it to me....

oh yeah and freakray, i think that they call themselves "African-American" because it's what they're forced into. Black people who take surveys or standardized tests for example, have to fill in a bubble telling what kind of race they are. instead of filling in other, they choose "African-American" because it's what seems the closest to their race...
I'll never call myself African-American because it's not who I am.
