92 Camry Distributor Capacitor

My 92 Camry 5S-FE 4 cyl. stopped in its tracks after blowing the lower hose off & getting HOT... It was blowing the 30 amp AM2 fuse under the hood after I had fixed the lower hose problem....
I started taking componets off circuit to narrow it down... I thought it might be the Ign. coil because of the Heat... WRONG, it was the little Distributor Capacitor (mounts inside of distributor with a outside screw)...
This capacitor (old timers called them condensors) looked like it got HOT as the plastic was ozzing.... It has a dead short with my Fluke Ohm meter... QUESTION... Does anyone know where I can purchase this Capacitor or know the Value ____ & working voltage ____...
Your help would be much appreciated...
Bob

Re: 92 Camry Distributor Capacitor

Did you try Toyota? I would use only the OEM part. The quality of capacitors can vary alot even when they have the same voltage/capacitance

Re: 92 Camry Distributor Capacitor

Just a follow-up......
Installed the Condenser & fixed the problem...
Toyota Part # 191133-16240.... $2.87 cost...
Wander how many distributors have been replaced just for this small condenser being shorted...???
Just a note... Need to set Gap of magnetic sensor that you have to remove to get the condenser out...

Re: 92 Camry Distributor Capacitor

I used an AutoZone part...of course, now that I've admitted it, it'll crap out on me.
