Hey everyone I have an 89 gmc jimmy 4x4 automatic. I am having some problems with the fuel pump. I have replaced the original pump with a brand new one because the stocker went out. I get a good power source to the pump and the pump works when i hook it up to a 12v battery charger. So the pump works outside of the tank but once you set it up in the tank it doesnt want to pump fuel. I have talked to 10 different guys and none of them know what the problem is? Please help me on this!! Thanks!

I have a similar problem are you getting voltage to the pump? I'm not sure if the harness is accessible. I just started looking at mine today.

Re: 89 jimmy fuel pump problems
depending on the brand of pump, you might need a higher amp fuse in there. I believe its the ECM-B fuse that controlls the pump and its probably a 10amp fuse, if its blown, upgrade to a 15amp fuse.
However if its not blown, there is possibly a ground problem.

Re: 89 jimmy fuel pump problems
Verify ground, Does the pump ground to the tank & the tank to the frame? If so you wont have a good ground untill install is complete.
