i need to fix my trannie asap: vr4 vs mkIII supra

well i'm driving down this long straightway called airport rd near were 97tsi lives. and i'm with my sister who weighs 240lbs and my cousin who's another 140lbs in my car with me and this guy with his shirt of is staring at me like he wants to fight. hehe he wants to race but i'm in 3rd at low rpms and i can't downshift without the gears grinding so i just punched it in 3rd at low rpms and he pulls a car length on me, my cousin says what happen i laugh and say this happen and my 3rd gear finally got to 5 grand and i just walked past him putting like 2-3 car lengths on him. light comes up and he gets behind me, light turns green and i go slow and slowly shift to second and then raise my rpm's to 3500 and i punched it at the same time he does and i pulled a car and a half off the back but when i needed to shift to 3rd i again have to shift into it slowly because of the dang synchro's so he was able to gain a good car back, slowly after shifting i start pulling on him again and gained my car back and then i shut down as we were at the end of the road. he just passes by me with a i wanna kill you look on his face (not knowing that i'd a slapped the sh!t out of him) and i just turned off.

suprisingly he kept up with me pretty good, he was able to hang with me pretty much in 2nd gear, its just my 3rd gear is really strong and or long for some reason.

Congrats on the kill. I had the same problem with my Stealth losing the 3rd synchro when I had it. It seems to be a common defect.

Nice kill youngvr4. It seems if you stay on that road long enough, there's always somebody who wants to race. Be careful cops though, they squat there all the time. Again, nice kill. Hurry up w/ the tranny already, j/k. But we do need to get some footage.

Sounds like a good race. At least your transmission doesn't look like this (top two pictures) right now: http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/620905

Damn man, that's horrible. But like you said, at least nothing is broken. Nice ride though!

Re: i need to fix my trannie asap: vr4 vs mkIII supra

Getting that baby fixed isn't gonna be cheap. When I owned the Stealth they didn't sell the synchros seperate from a tranny rebuild. I believe they do now. Anyways I was quoted about $2000 for a tranny rebuild. I believe a new tranny was like $3000. Those trannies ain't cheap. I believe there is a new way of treating the trannies so that they are stronger young vr4. You should look into it. Something about them being cryogenically treated.
