Re: 2002 cummins obd2 code P0216
0216 can be caused by a lift pump going downhill, not feeding the VP44 enough fuel, or it can be caused by a VP44 that is about to go west with chicken george.
I would do a pressure test on the lift pump, there are several ways to do this, but the way the dealers in this part of the world do it, is connect your pressure gauge, then start the truck, anything less than 10 psi from idle on up is no good. If your lift pump is ok, then i would be looking toward the VP44. OUCH. Other questions though, is your truck modded at all, and how many miles on it? |

I have a 65hp superchips installed, a K&N and a opened up the exhaust. It only throws this code when the chip is installed, I haven't ran it long enough with the chip out to see if it still has it?

Re: 2002 cummins obd2 code P0216
if you are only getting the code when the chip is installed, then the pump is being pushed too hard for the fuel that is being supplied. This will cause heat, and throw the electronic side of the pump into a dither. Go back to plan "a" and check the lift pump pressure, see where you are at. you may need to upgrade line and fitting size, as well as the pump, even doing that, there is no guarantee that your pump will perform any better, or that you will not get the 0216 code again
