Remote locking problems

Hello Everyone,

I've just purchased a 1996 Cavalier Z24.
It was imported from Japan 6 months ago by the person I bought it off.
It has an alarm system on it and I have the toyota remote for it.
When I tried to use it it doesn't do anything so I took the top off the alarm remote to find it has no battery in it.

Does anyone know what type of battery goes into it ?

The central locking also doesn't work, when i lock the drivers door only it locks and I have to lock the passenger door seperatly.
I presume its because the remote isn't working.

Any ideas on how I can get this all going as everything is in japanese in the manuals that came with it ?

Yeah,
I think I'm going to take it along to the local dealer here and let them play with it, after reading the problems that can happen with the computer on the forum here :-)
